Hi All! My name is Divya Goel I am a student at the University of Illinois Chicago. Since 2015, I have been annually collecting donations for the UW Kids Cancer Fund every June for my birthday. This cause sparked my interest because I used to accompany my sister to her outpatient appointments at the UW Children's hospital.

Although she doesn't have cancer, I used to see many other struggling children.

 

I was so moved that at the age of ten on my birthday, I requested item donations (coloring supplies, LEGOs, games, movies, etc.) for the kids at the hospital instead of presents for myself. I discovered early on that giving back to the community was very gratifying.

 

Then in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, since the hospital was no longer accepting item donations, I raised $1,500 online for the cause. In 2021, in addition to money, I wanted to raise awareness to help fight childhood cancer, so I designed and sold the T-shirts which you see on this site. I sold 100 T-shirts and raised almost $2,000 that year!

Two years ago we organized our first 5K run/walk at Elver Park and raised $5,000! This year we are continuing and making this a free event! We are confident that through donations we can exceed that amount this year! Please donate what you can to this worthy cause :)
